JUST DO IT!
Nike has had it right all along. Just do it. If you’re anything like me, you have been worried about being extremely polished & flawless and wishing to withhold doing anything in front of the world until you know that no one can find fault in whatever it is you do. Possibly, you have the disease to please & your biggest fear is failing in front of those who’s opinions you value. Well guess what? Fuggggg them!
I’m dedicating my life to losing the fear. It might take me all life long. I don’t care. I want to overcome all my fears. It’s so important to just do things that I love. I will fail. That’s how I got good at anything I’m good at. I tried it. I probably sucked at it. Then I hated how it felt to suck. So I practiced it and I got better, sometimes amazing.
Trial and error experiences are necessary. It’s not an indicator that I’m horribly incapable of accomplishing something. But on the contrary, it’s the easiest and fastest way to find out what needs work so that I can become great at it. From romance, to singing, to dressing, to relationships with friends and family or work related relationships, cooking, cleaning, education, etc., failing hurts so badly, that if I’m determined to stop failing, I’ll find my error and correct it (or die trying.) I hate the idea that I can’t fail at something. How else am I supposed to become amazing without messing up or starting somewhere? It’s an unrealistic expectation that I’ve placed on myself.
We all have talents, gifts, beauty and innate genius at something. But in order to be amazing at whatever it is we choose to do, a lot of trial and error is required. Each time we try again, we test our new skills. We either have it or we need more practice. But without knowing it, each attempt, we become stronger and better. Before we know it, we’ve gotten pretty great.
I wasted so much time in my life trying to be flawless. The beauty of the journey is in making and correcting the mistakes. So for God’s sake, just do it. Try it. Say it. Go there. Become that. Come out of the closet. Spread your eagle wings. Everyone around you will adjust. It’s way more important to be comfortable with yourself and your ability and that comfort only comes from being WILLING to fail and try again.
I think I can have and do anything I want and anything I believe in within the realms of what’s humanly possible. I think it’s the same rule for you too. It just takes time to go through the trials and errors and the fearlessness to leap out in front of the world. Remember that whatever you’re expertise is, very few people can do it like you. So just do it. Just do it. Just do it.
